Brozar... avert your eyes, lest thine innocence be sullied.   Wink

Maybe I will just post a link to the scary pictures (when the time comes) with a warning, so people aren't assaulted against their will.   Shocked

Wow, it's been quite some time since I posted on this thread!   Shocked  Anyway, I'm going to be starting maskmaking, and I decided to make some simple half-scale busts to practice concepts on before I do the real thing life-sized.

For the record, I do not enjoy moldmaking....  Tongue  As you can see below, it makes a giant mess!

If I were to make casts for finished pieces, I would definitely need a degasser.  These guys had serious acne.  But they turned out kind of cool anyway, especially when they're all staring creepily at their antecedent.   Grin

This is something I've always wanted to try but I've always assumed you would need a lot of patience for it! Something I lack!  Grin  I like the last picture of them all - very creepy!  Cheesy

Thanks Jackie!  This did take a lot of patience, and I am in no hurry to do it again!   Shocked

I think I've decided that the first mask I will make shall be a fox.

Pictured below is a (roughly) half-scale prototype, in polymer clay, thus far unpainted.  I'm working on the full-scale piece next.  But, once the mini is painted, I’m thinking it’ll be a pretty cool finished piece in its own right.   Smiley

I’d love to hear what you think, and also, tell me what other kinds of masks you might like to see me create!

Thanks Rochelle!  Hehe... So would I, actually.  The masks were put on hold, though; I had some technical difficulties.  Mostly, the mask form I was working with was built like a Neanderthal, so masks built on it would fit very few people.  Now I'm thinking about trying my hand at leather maskmaking... but that will have to wait, too.  I'm working on some polymer sculpture commissions for a while.  I can't really share WIP pics, as there is the slightest chance they'd get back to the person the sculpture is being a surprise gift for.  But I'll share pics when they're done!  Actually, I need to share a recently finished one.  I'll do that soon-ish.  Smiley

Here is a small sneak peek at the dragon commission I am working on right now:

It's due on Valentine's Day, so I'd better get crackin'!   Grin

Here's my current WIP. He will be a wingless large-eared dragon, inspired by a picture of a Townsend's big-eared bat.  He's sitting on a piece of driftwood.  That blasted armature took me two days....  Tongue  I really hope this piece works out well; I'm doing a couple of new experiments with this one.  (I want to make his ears translucent, for one thing.)
